Alpha Gamma Delta’s Own Delivers Commencement Speech
The Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta recognizes as sister Alinea Esensoy delivers commencement speech at 2017 University graduation ceremony.
March 8, 2017, BIRMINGHAM, AL –
The Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s member Alinea Esensoy was chosen from the greater student body to deliver the commencement speech at the Spring 2017 graduation ceremony. “It was such an honor to be chosen as this year’s speaker,” she said. Esensoy was an active member of our chapter during her four years at UAB and also served as the Panhellenic President. She gave a thought-provoking speech at the ceremony while recapping her not only educational experience at UAB, what she learned and her personal development while at UAB, but also her student life. “Therefore, be sure to engage with the world around you—but do not lend your time and talents to just any cause. Make sure that your journey in life is one that you find rewarding. Society is always going to have expectations for how they believe you should live your life. Even knowing this, it is easy to find yourself conforming to those expectations. So, I implore you to stay aware and put effort into making sure that the life you live is the one you want—the one that makes you happy.”
The chapter is proud to claim Alinea as one of our own. Alinea’s accomplishments throughout her tenure in the chapter made a long lasting impression on the generations of Alpha Gams to come.
Alinea will be pursuing medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham this coming fall.
